Default NZ police checks, what should i do??

i have recently recieved my police checks back (uk) and they say they
have no records of me on their files, however when i was 17 i was
convicted of a minor charge and fined £25, when i come to complete the
form for a work permit/visa fo New Zealand, it asks if ive ever been
convicted etc.. Now im one who has always believed in "honesty is the
best policy" shall i own up and tell them or not, as on the police
forms it says im clean?
many thanks for any help you may be able to help me with.

I'm pretty sure they're not going to be bothered about this, but if you tell them what you've said here then at least they know and you'll feel better about it.

===========================
Years ago on a pleasant Saturday morning , I decided to do a paint job on
student my car (Camira). I removed the number plates, sanded the whole car
and started to spray. I ran out of the spray and decided to go to K Mart for
more bottles of spray (without the number plates, stupid, hey)!! On my way
back home, I stopped at the last traffic lights and in my back view mirror,
I noticed some 'cool' gentlemen in a spotted white falcon with blue and
red/amber lights on the top carriage of their car. When the traffic lights
turned green, I drove towards home. It didn't take long before noticing that
the falcon behind me was up to something. They turned on their fancy lights
and a whiff of a familar siren. I pulled over. Then the guys stopped behind
my car and started talkng on their walkie talkies. It was then that I
realised I had commited my first and worst (so far) traffic offence, i.e.
driving a car without number plates, rego sticker, 'no nothing'. They guys
wouldn't buy my explanation of do it myself job. They gave me an on spot
hefty fine and escorted me home. The fine was itemised as: no number plates
$$$, no license sticker $$$, on a main road $$$ and for an undisclosed item
(probably ethnic background) $$$. The total was $,$$$ to be paid within a
certain time limit or if I contested, the court etc etc. It spoilt my
planned overseas holiday as I had to settle the $,$$$ on the coming Monday.
I actually scrapped the car a later on.

At the time, I was in my last stages of getting PR approval. After paying
the fine, I went to the visa office and explained all the above. I really
thought it would affect my visa application process. But thank God, the
officer just smiled at me and said "as long as you paid the fine, all should
be OK". My PR came weeks later!!!

So, being sincere helps a great deal!!!
