Default NZ electrical equipment

Hello, can anyone advise if there are problems taking audio equipment and
pc's to NZ. Do they work on the same voltage? Many thanks, Sue & Ian

Everything seems to work fine with a plug change, except the TV, which needs some quite major (read expensive) changes. They are cheap over here though as long as you don't want widescreen.

Also (if you have one) you will need to get your DVD player chipped to accept Region 4 DVDs. My Sony player cost only $40 to chip in Auckland.

Your video will be able to play your videos from home, but you will need to buy a new one (or get the tuner replaced) to record from the NZ TV stations.

What we did, for our PC, printer, scanner etc, was to plug them into a UK multiple lead, and then just change the plug for that, that saved a lot of time and messing about. Other equipment that we don't use too often, we will just use an adaptor for now.

Hope this helps.

Ken.

Your TV should be taken - use your Sky decoder or an NZ video as your
tuner!!

No probs re. voltages - PC tip - make sure you change the settings on your
modem to NZ (as the phone tones are different)

Are adapters required for the electrical sockets?
What is the difference from UK plugs/sockets?
Are adapters easily available?

Yes, NZ is all about adapters. You can buy them everywhere, there are even
magazines doing tests and comparisons of various models, features, etc.

Take your UK 4 way plug thingies (you know waht I mean) and stick an NZ plug
on the end, saves changing too many plugs. Technically you are supposed to
have your plugs checked by a registered electrician OR fitted by one. The
plugs are horrible and not pleasant to wire (also don't have fuses and are
only rated to 10 amps)
