Default NZ citizenship for new-born child

Hi.

It's a little bit OT, but I haven't found the answer on pages of the Internal Affairs
office. Is new-born child in NZ granted a NZ citizenship if is it's both parents hold
NZ permament residency visa? And what if the parents are on temporary visas (like job
seeker, or visitors)?

Yes. The child is an NZ citizen from birth, automatically.

The child is still a NZ citizen.

Even if the parents are illegal immigrants, the child is still a NZ citizen.

The only exception to the automatic citizenship by birth rule is for the children of
foreign diplomats born in NZ.

However, having a NZ born child does not give the parents an automatic route to
residency in New Zealand.
