NZ baby emigrating to OZ question

Hi, just a quick query which I wonder if anyone here can help with...
Further to previous postings, my wife and I have decided to have our baby here in New
Zealand and then move on to Australia 3 months or so after the birth.
The question we now have is, will there be a problem getting our child into Australia? We
will ensure that they have a NZ passport as soon after the birth as possible but doesn't
current law state that Kiwis wanting to remain in Australia are subject to passing a
health check etc? Does this apply to a 3 month old baby?!
One parent (fingers crossed) will have temporary residency (309 visa) and the other, the
Mother, is an Australian citizen (by descent so can't pass on the citizenship having not
lived in Australia for 2 years as yet).
At the moment, we have visions of having our baby turned away at the immigration desk at
Melbourne airport...

Mike I would think that with a NZ passport your child would be ok. As far as I know, NZ
citizens automatically get a special category visa at the airport when they arrive in
Australia.
Australia does have a health requirement for migrating NZ citizens, but I've no idea
how they enforce this. I don't think Kiwis need to present a medical certificate when
they arrive.
