Default Nvq3

Hi can anyone tell me why an NVQ3 in Childcare is not recognised in Australia, but an NNEB is when they are the same standards? One is just done through on the job training and the other in the classroom!
Is there any further qualification I can do over here that is recognised in Australia?
One more thing I have found out that Nursery Nurses are an in demand skill, yet is not listed on SOL!
Any help would be gratefully received as I seem to have tried most things without success!
Many Thanks
Niki

Niki, who told you that NVQ3 Childcare is not recognised in Australia? I'm not saying that it is, because I don't know, but I do know that it is recognised in other occupations (those assessed by the TRA) as being equivalent to the appropriate Australian qualification, so you might want to investigate further. Phone the assessing body for your occupation (if you have not already done so) and ask their advice.

Hi Niki
Let us know how you get on with the advice as I am nearly qualified in NVQ Early Years and I will be on the lookout for a postion. We are going through a skills Visa with my husbands qualifications, well just started really and I am hoping to get some work experience under my belt whilst waiting for the application to go through. I am just going to do as many short courses as poss. i.e update 1st aid etc, basic food hygiene, etc. all looks good on cv.

Hi Niki,

AG is right that your NVQ3 may well be recognised for migration purposes,
but I know from a client's experiences that getting it recognised for a
child care job or registration purposes is more difficult; it may depend on
the State or Territory you're applying to...

Cheers

Thanks everyone!
Sorry I have not replied before, for some reason this thread has been posted twice and I have only seen the answers on the other one! I'm sure if you are interested or in the same situation as me you can do a search for it, it has some helpful advice on it!
Feeling slightly more positive about it, but we'll see!
Many Thanks
Niki
ps George, I am hoping to move to Brisbane, but not for a few years yet, if that helps me!

Hi George (or anyone else!)
On my post in the lifestyle forum, it was suggested to me that I complete a City and Guilds qualification. My NVQ was actually issued by City and Guilds and I wondered if this made a difference.
Many Thanks
Niki
