Default Newbie - question re visa sponsorship from SA

Hi, this is my first time on here - what a great site i have found out loads.
I am planning to apply to SA for sponsorship as a marketing specialist. I think I have got what i need to do re the skills assessment so am ok with that.

I have had a look on the SA immigration website and been through the form to apply, it all looks ok but my question is re finances and how muh scrutiny is put on that section. We have £20,000 equity in the property and by selling the car we will get a further £4000. We only have £1500 currently in savings but are planning on saving considerably more before we go. Do we have to provide evidence of funds at the time of the application as i am concerned we won't be able to demonstrate enough liquid assessts at this point.

I am also unsure as to if we were successful in getting sponsorship and then a visa how long we would have before we have to move.

Any help would be really appreciated as we are hoping to do this without an agent.

Hi, when we put our application in - we under estimated slightly but we said say -

$50K property after mortgage paid off
$10K sale of vehicle
$5K current savings

You then have to prove you can sustain yourself until you get a job, so we basically told them that we would go into rented accomodation and live off our savings until able to secure job and then once savings back to a reasonable level then look to purchase own property.

That way it looks like you have def thought about you plans.

Any more questions please ask

Thanks - did you have to provide evidence to the notary when you had your financial declaration signed? If so what did you provide?

Hi fellows3078,
and welcome to the BE forum.
I recently submitted my application for SA sponsorship through an agent, which has been successful.
From memory you need to show funds to support yourself if you are unable to find employment for the 3-5 years before you can claim unemployment benefit, i.e 2-3 years temp visa followed by 2 years PR. I think the amount for SA was AU$25,000 for the main applicant + AU$10,000 for everyone else on your application. Someone will correct me If I am wrong on this, or you can use the search facility at the top of the page as there was a recent thread about this and a link to the SA sponsorship site.
As you have seen the form asks for values of assets, shares/investments, and equity.
For the house equity I provided a statement from my mortgage company showing outstanding mortgage values and an evaluation from my friendly estate agent to indicate an estimate of house equity.
We also converted what savings we had on that date.
My branch of Lloyds Bank signed of the declaration form that you have to print off and send as a paper copy after the online application.

Hope this helps

Johnnyyt

Tip for the online SA sponsorship form.........
It crashed a few times for me when I was filling it in.
Type what you need in word, do a word count as some info boxes require a minimum and other req a maximin word count, and copy and paste into the online form. This way you can save as you go along if the form crashes and not have to start again (although my answers looked better the 2nd time around)

Hi Basty,
to be honest I found the SA online sponsorship form a bit of a nightmare as some pages you can't get passed until you enter all the info. Just as you think that you might have finished up pops another page. Glad when this was done though.

Have you looked at the meet up pages?
There is a meet up planned for Sunday 30th March, probably at The Bakers Arms, Poole. Why don't you come along.

Hi Batsy,
you will be welcome to come along to any meet ups that get arranged, I'm sure there will be another arranged sometime around June/July.

Hi Everyone,

I am looking into applying for SA sponsorship but have been scared a little by a Migration Agent who's been trying to get my trade. I won't bore you with the details but essentially I would like to know what the online application requires? I get the impression that it is really rather demanding, and that it isn't easy to save a partly completed application. I wouldn't be ready to complete it straight away as I like to digest the requirements first!

Also, I graduated only 2.5yrs ago so do not have any assets. However I can make the minimum $25,000 requirement from savings. I hope this will not reflect negatively on me.

Thank you for any help and enlightenment!!!

Online applications require the same information as the paper application forms (available from www.immi.gov.au), and are perfectly easy to save - just click save, put in a password and record the reference it gives you.

If you've been told by an agent that you should hire their services because it's hard to do an application online then stay away from them.

Read about online applications here: http://www.immi.gov.au/e_visa/index.htm

Hi, have you been to any recruitment expo's? If you take your c.v and have a skill they are recruiting for there is a good chance you may be offered a job with relocation package on temporary 457 (pro and cons) and they can get you there in 2/3 months. I am speaking from experience as we went to the one in Manchester last week.

Hi sambagirl,
as another poster has said you can save the application as you go along. My tip above to type your answears in word, spell check, and do a word count befor copy and pasteing into the online form will make it easier to complete.
A good agents advice, and general 'hand holding', is worth it if you can afford the fees. I use FourCorners but George Lombard fron Go Matilda gets lots of recommendations on this site. If you go it alone lots of people will help with any questions you have.
Are there any meet ups arranged near to where you live? You could always go along to one, generally everyone is friendly and some may have alrweady been through the application process and be able to answear your questions.

I will just add to the past posts if you are appling to a state for state sponsorship then yes it saves as you go along but you do only have 2 hours to complete and then all you information is wiped off. That is how WA's is so I presume that SA will prob be the same
