Morning all
Been lurking for a while but thought it was worth signing up and posting :) The new points test has been confirmed this morning, and is pretty much as expected. As expected the pass mark is 65 points. Full details attached, as well as the transitional arrangements for people with applications already lodged :) |

I have searched the DIAC website and can't seem to find any reference to amendments. |

I'd say there's been (a minor) change only in SOL Schedule 3, other lists remain the same.

Re: New SOL and points test Released Effective 1st July, 2011
I have been doing the points calculator with my husband as the main applicant and we probably score 60. Does anyone know if the family sponsor points can apply to the spouse's family rather than the main applicant ? I have several relatives in Oz but my husband doesn't. That could make the difference for us.

"This visa also requires that either: * you or your partner have an eligible relative living in Australia who is willing and able to sponsor you However, under the new rules, your 'eligible sponsor' (probably, will carry the same definition of you or your partner) must be from a designated area (there is no mention of sponsors from non-designated areas) and furthermore this seems to apply only for 475 visas. 176 visas seem to carry points for state/territory nomination. In short, it looks like the PR visas no longer support family sponsors, forcing you to make up points in qualification, work experience and/or IELTS. Anyway, its only a few days more until there are more details made clear on their website on July 1st. |
Re: New SOL and points test Released Effective 1st July, 2011
Hi guys.
Thanks for the info. I'm a bit confused. Hope someone can help me. I wanna apply for a 885 under the new point test. I'm under transitional arrangements. I got granted a 485 by April 2010. My nominated skill is market research analyst (got an ANZCO code) but I don't see it on the new SOL list, if I apply under the old point test I'll be 5 points under so my only option is the new points test, is it possible to do it? Cheers |

It does not a matter at all as long as you are include as a secondary applicant. You will need to include the following documents with your application. include a family tree to show how you are related to your sponsor along with birth certificates marriage certificates Regards Janaka |

Hi,
Thank you the valuable information. I'm from Sri Lanka. Planning to apply to Australia for the category of 312311 - Electrical Engineering Draftsperson. In August I'm completing the Advanced Technician Diploma in Engineering (City & Guilds). I've around 10 yrs of experience in this filed. Do you think I can manage to migrate Australia with these qualification. Rdgs, nishaner |

Hi Armandra,
Thanks for the info. My ANZSCO is 224412 (Policy Analyst) which is not there in the list. Does that mean I am not eligible to apply for skilled migration?..:( Thanks and waiting. -Saif
