new SOL
Hiya,
My partners job hasn't appeared on the new SOL even though it was on the old list and there's a global need for people with his experience (the specialisations he has are in the top 3 of the global IT needs).
He's been on forums for employers and execs and they were insistant that certain jobs be kept on the SOL and now they're not on, I was wondering if anyone out there had any experience of the lists changing and if not is there anything anyone can suggest for us as we're pretty depressed having made the decision to try and move and now all hope seems dashed.

Re: new SOL
Wait for the SMP lists to be release which are expected end June / beginning July, 2010. If your partner's occupation is on one of the State's list, they can sponsor him

Drell,
I know exactly how you feel as my IT skills (Project Manager and Support Analyst) have been dropped from the list too. After so much planning of moving now all hopes are dashed..........

Re: new SOL
We didn't get all our info from just immigration forums we got our information from recruiters and industry websites which tell people which skills are required where and when etc. It's such a shame that we've thought about it for so long, only to make the move to go and the SOL changes but it seemingly goes against their own industries advice!
Just waiting for the state sponsored lists as advized and hopefully a little light will appear at the end of this now long and dark tunnel.
Thank you guys for your replies, it's appreciated.

Re: new SOL
He's an IT consultant for a large multi-national company- unfortunately the company doesn't operate in Aus!! He has more than 10 years experience in the field and too many exam qualifications to mention but his areas of expertise that were on the SOL before included security, networking and SQL stuff im not techie so i am just remembering what he told me and this is not the exhaustive list of his abilities and no doubt i've got it wrong.

I read yesterday that there is still some uncertainty over what is in and what is out in IT. See post #8 in the link below.
Like you, I am not techie and I don't understand all these different IT occupations either, but for that reason, I think perhaps more digging is required?

Re: new SOL
What I meant was, what occupation specifically was he going to apply under, i.e. what code? And if you are not sure, can you be sure that it really has been removed?

I will pass this over to him but apparently the new SOL has removed the IT area he worked in and the ones that have been kept are totally not what he does. I'll pass this over to him tho, i'm just going on what he said and the fact that the SOL released this week didn't have anything he has experience in that we can see. The subclassifications matched with what he thought as well.
Thank you though
