For NAATI points you have to sit in a test.

Good question most of people who are from non English speaking country will try their luck with NAATI. But its not clear what level of NAATI test should be attempted for 5 points. If there is any one who has any idea plzz help.

In order to gain points for community language you must pass the NAATI exam to the level of professional translator. Not an easy task I might add.

From some other posts I've read (not on here) it's easier to do the test from English to your language rather than Urdu to English. The NAATI exam is very difficult and unless you are completely fluent in both English and your own language you are going to face a real battle in trying to pass.

All the information you need is here http://www.naati.com.au/ Follow the links for "NAATI and migrating" for what you need to do.

Because without sitting the NAATI exam and passing he cannot file an application. No application = no case officer.

Been there. Done that. Foreign -> English

Not as hard as some have made it out to be. And yes, before I appeared for my exam, I'd heard from all and sundry how hard it was to clear the same; including from one person who'd failed the said exam thrice.

As Dorothy mentions you do have to be fluent in English as well as foreign language. And fluency in English is required to the level of fluent idiomatic and colloquial usage.

I believe there are 4 levels of NAATI - which level is required for this?

AS Dorothy said "In order to gain points for community language you must pass the NAATI exam to the level of professional translator"

Professional Translator
This is the minimum level of competence for professional translating in Australia, and is the only level of accreditation available by testing at overseas locations. Professional Translators work across a wide range of subjects and require a sound conceptual understanding
of the material being translated. NAATI may qualify them to translate into one language only, or into both languages, one of which must be English.
Duties:
work may include routine correspondence, reports, standard text material in the general field of scholarship translation of non–specialised scientific, technical, legal, tourist and commercial subjects requiring a high level of accuracy.
