Hello Mr. George,

I request you and other friends of this valuable NG to help me and suggest for the
following matter:

1. Iam a design engineer from India with 12 years of industrial experience. I have a
Masters degree and also a couple of PG diplomas in Informmation technology and
Computer Networking, which I have completed as a Continuing education programs.

2. In order to apply for Australian PR, I have submitted my application form for
skill assessment to IEAUST. I have an oerall bandscore of 7 in IELTS. Now this
shall be treated as a Non-IT application.

3. Through my engineering experience- I also had the opportunity to work on IT
project management and other software products.

With this background I request your kind suggestions for the following:

a) Can I apply for ACS assessment with my It related experience..If it is
advisable..is it better for an RPL or direct ACS assessment?

b) If I apply for ACS assessment too..will that fact in any way affect my skill
asessment processing with Ieaust??

c) If I get asessment from both ( too optimistic !) - civil engineering is a 60 point
qualification..and can I file PR visa application with Civil engg as the
quaification and recent experience of 18 months in IT??

I thank you for all your suggestions and help. Sainara

Hi Sainara,

Obviously, if you are working in IT, the answer is yes, go to ACS. But whether you
will be accepted by ACS on the basis of those formal qualifications depends on the
formal qualifications. There are a lot of PG diplomas in India which are not really
PG If ACS does accept your qualifications as equal to an Australian degree major
in IT, or if you have four years dedicated IT experience, then applying through ACS
is a far preferable option, because of the speedier processing.

Cheers
