Minister Evans on ABC "National Interest" radio programme
Hmmm, for anyone who followed the link someone else posted a couple of weeks ago, about the "2 year limbo" for migration applicants, Minister Chris Evans was interviewed this evening on ABC - makes for interesting, if depressing, listening, especially for any "hair dryers" [sic] out there (his words, not mine )
This is mostly of interest to on-shore applicants, but there is some discussion about the "queue" of off-shore applicants too.
I'm not looking forward to the new MODL being published.

He also doesn't feel that he need to apologise to us.
He also thinks that waiting untill 2012 is not "suspention".
And no refund available.

Yes quite interesting.
No mention on whether changes to the MODL would be restrospective or not though. However, very clear that visa grants should be driven by demand and not supply.
Re accountants - I think his main issue is students doing accountany courses just so they could get a visa, hence very high numbers of accoutants. I've got a feeling in the revised MODL there may be a clause for accountants that x number of years work experience may be required. All IMHO...

They could just say we need:-
x Hairdryers (aka hairdressers)
y Doctors
z Accountants
And once those numbers are allocated for the year then rest have to wait until the next year's allocation.
