Default Military service

Hi all,

My country has a compulsory for all males over 18yrs military service.
I, personaly, did (aka served) 6 months ;-).

There are 2 questions in form 47sk regarding this:

q.47 (last checkbox): "served in a military force or state sponsored/
private militia, undergone any military/paramilitary training, or been
trained in weapons/explosives use (however described)?"

and

q.49: "Have you/your spouse or any dependent family members (migrating
with you or not) ever served in the armed forces?"

I am thinking, q.49 should read "Yes" in my case, but what about q.47?

Has anyone been in my situation?

Advice is appreciated.

best,

Hi

My husband is currently serving in the Royal Navy. We answered "Yes " to both questions and I have sent our agent a copy of his Certificate of Service to lodge with the visa application.

Kossio,
attach an official translation of your "voenna knijka" - the pages with
your name & photo, + the page (was it 13?) where your date of discharge
and rank are given.

Hi Kosio,
This is not exactly what you wanted, but I had a similar
question on the Prospective Spouse Application (I am the sponsor). I am a
farmer and have trained in and use firearms and explosives and of course
answered yes to this question. There were no problems with this and if all
your answers are truthful and you put in a good application you should not
have any problems either.

Thanks for the info.

There was a time when pretty much all of us in the unit were dreaming
about this page ;-)
But now I don't remember what it was ... 8? ...

I served in the Royal Air Force - answered yes to both questions and it
didn't cause any issues at all. - I think they're just trying to make sure
that if it later turns out that you are a terrorist that they've got grounds
to revoke your visa.

Cheers

Jamie

Hi Jamie,

Problem is if they decide you're a terrorist _before_ they give you a
visa :-)

So, I guess I should paraphrase the question:
"Which question is the terrorist-finder?" ;-)
I, not being a terrorist, whould hate to make myself look like one...
