Unhappy Medical Further Info - Diabetic

Hi all

Quick update - we have just received an email requesting further appointment and checks with the panel doctor re OH's type 1 diabetes.

Looks just like they want further clarification - test look the same as he does here at specialist bi-annually and we have letter with latest results (dated May) ready on hand.

Has anyone else emigrated with type 1 diabetes? What was your experience.

We are applying for 136 Skilled Independent MODL - and OH is main applicant.

The info came via our agent - letter signed off: Local Clearance Unit - DIMA

We frontloaded our medicals (as requested by agent).

Looking like we might get a specialist report from OH's current specialist doctor, who will forward to the panel doctor for finalising and couriering to Oz.

I am looking on this a bit more positively this afternoon - but got to fork out another £50 on the courier - not to mention whatever the specialist decides to charge.

Thanks for the chin up - I appreciated it.

Hi Paula
Sorry to hear about what has happened.
We have something similar.

My husband being a diet controlled diabetic(meltus) and the panel dr requested full blood test and liver ultra sound and if no findings then a report from a consultant.(We too took the GP report along)
We are glad we are front loading to afford us more time.
I have PM'd you not having seen your other threads before I this.
Good Luck
Let us have your updates won't you?

Quick update: OH specialist doctor has agreed to carry out specialist report with test they requested as part of his clinic time (no charge!!), only wont carry out resting ECG as cant justify this without charging and he doesnt do private.

Not a problem, the Nuffield Hospital in Newcastle will do this for £60.00 with written report sent to panel doctor - and they do evening appointments so not too much time off work! (working like you wouldnt believe to get more money for our new life in oz).

He has to do two Blood Pressure checks and forward written results to his specialist prior to his appointment for the specialist report - practice nurse at the diabetic clinic to carry out - free of charge!

Will have a declaration typed out with photo of Heath on them for the different doctors to verify that the person who had the test is a true likeness to OH and they have seen his passport verifying his identity.

Should be done and dusted for 17th July for the panel doctor to write up report, collate information and present to the LCU via courier (another £50).
Overall I dont think we have been so badly done to cost wise (could have been a lot worse) and fingers crossed that is all they want/need.

Hey - another Paula! Mind you, dare I admit it, I am originally from Sunderland! Although, I have spent more time away from there - 13 years in Norway, short time in Sweden, 5-6 years East London, 2 years Essex, and the last 7 years between Whitley Bay and North Shields.

I have heard that Perth is where all the great Geordies go! Is this where you are going too?

Hiya Paula
Things are certainly moving along then?
I'm glad for you.
Incidently, did anyone suggest you do the 'declaration' or was it something you thought about yourself.
Just wondering if everyone should do that.
Roll on 17th July eh?

just thought a good idea myself as every stage of medicals had to take photos and passports to prove main applicant taking the tests and not a stand-in. just dont want to give them any reason to delay processing our acceptance and visa (touch wood, formica, plastic etc).
17th July will come around really quickly (especially as it is my birthday - and I am always lucky on my birthday!).
will update with anything that happens - and good luck with all your paperwork too!
