You'll find LOTS of beer and food without any difficulties I guess the main issue is when do you want to be in Australia? If you've got quite a while before you intend to go (assuming visa and meds etc. are ok) - say early 2007 - then you may aswell wait for the request - no point adding to the pressure with a self imposed deadline due to the meds.
We intend to go ASAP! Hopefully October(ish) this year, so for us we felt it was better to frontload.

Just a quick update.
Our medicals arrived in Sydney yesterday, but we are still waiting for PCCs to come back. Rang up local force headquarters on Thursday and they told me that they were working to the 40 day deadline but would have to allow a couple of extra days due to the bank holidays we have had!! So looking at another week or two if we're lucky. We have also put the house on the market today as well.
Hope everyone else is doing ok.

We've just got to get police check sorted this week - should have sorted it before really but there you go. Excellent that you've got the house on the market - we're both busy painting today trying to get the house ready for sale! Decided we're going to get a painter and decorator in to do a fair amount of the work otherwise we won't be able to sell any time soon - too much to do!

We have got our police check forms all filled in and ready to go!! Will be posting them a bit later today! We can't take them down to the local cop shop (bummer). It is a postal service only!
The downstairs shower room is almost complete!! YAY! Just need to do:

Hubby is an electrical engineer we have applied under general electrician our application type is Class BN Subclass 136 skilled - independant. There is no mention of a region.
