YEEESSSSSS!!!!!!!

At long last, the letter we have longed for dropped on the mat this morning. I don't post on here very often, but read through the posts most days so I thought I would share our long tale about the TRA.

We first applied in Feb 04. We heard back in June 04 and failed due to my misunderstanding of the requirements. I thought we had to show 12 out of the last 18 months work experience, so as you can see, I didn't do my research. We sent for a re-view in July, and I explained my mistake and sent more stuff. They again failed us in November 04 due to lack of independent evidence. We went on holiday to Perth in December to visit my sisters. We came home more determained than ever and prepared a new application. This was sent 14 Feb 05. After about six weeks with no acknowledgement I got a bit worried and e-mailed them. They said they hadn't received my application. Panic stations!!!! So I got another application together and sent it off on 31 March 05. This one arrived ok and today we got the good news. Pretty quick for a standard application.

So for all you quys who have failed in the past and are waiting again, I hope this cheers you up and shows it can be done.

Hi Pauline & Iain,

Happy to hear you finally got your TRA sorted, well done.

Can you help with some information, we are filling out our TRA, John's self employed, What do we need to include to prove what work he has been doing and has been in the industry for X amount of years?

Alison

Thanks for that.

We are hopeing to go 136 skilled independant and am now gathering the stuff I need to get certified copies of.

We need to decide whether to front load our application. My occupation is on MODL and we would like to get our visa's before September if possible when my daughter turns 18. Does anyone have any advice about this? We know the risk about validation dates that this brings but is it worth doing as we are on MODL? Will we be fast tracked? Any thoughts appreciated.

Cheers.
Pauline.

Hi Alison,

Thanks. I am employed so I'm not too sure about self-empolyed but I think I've read on other posts that you need to send things like statements from suppliers, tax documents, letters from clients, statement from accountant and things like that. I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong and point you in the right direction. Good luck!!!

Pauline.

Hi Michelle,

Thanks for that. Yes, we have been walking on air all day. Made lots of phone calls spreading the good news and can't stop smiling.

We received our acknowledgement letter on the 9th April, it was dated the 5th April. Have you paid for priority. Ours was standard. I'm a hairdresser. Good luck with yours.

Cheers

From reading other "more-educated!" posts, they reckon that there's not much difference between non-MODL and MODL nowadays - on average about 12 weeks for med requests. It has also been discussed on here about front loading meds and most people agree that its best to send off 136 with police certs if you can and then send meds once you have a case number, in case they go astray. Search for more info on this about where to send meds, download relevant forms, etc. We're just about to send our 136 off and this is what we're planning to do. I was think September as well - hope we're not being too optimistic!! (Just added to MODL also). As regards your daughter turning 18, somebody may be able to help, but does her age get "locked in" when your application is acknowledged (the same way that your age would be) or does she have to be under 18 when you're granted visa? It puts you under a bit of pressure if its the latter, so the sooner you can get your 136 off, the better. It takes approximately 2-3 weeks for pcc's in England, so you might be better to send them with meds. Hope all this makes sense! Good luck. Michelle

yup, we have paid the $500 priority. you have done really well to get it back so soon, what does it work out at? 1 month 11 days (ish)? did you go via an agent? if you did, did they tell you, or did you hear off TRA direct?

i don't know when the acknowledgement letter is dated, as it went to the migration agent. we wouldn't have known they had recd it, if i hadn't have chased it!!!!! i dare not ask, as it seems when i get on the phone to them, they make me feel like we're being too pushy!! i approached them a couple of weeks ago, asking if there is anything we can get whilst waiting for TRA to come back, and i don't think they liked it............. i think they are very methodical, and like doing things step by step and their way. i dread ringing them to ask them any questions.

where abouts are you hoping to go to, and have you been getting your main applicantion together?

so many questions, i know, but it's nice to hear of positive TRAS, as we are anxiously waiting for ours.

Well done on the TRA result, all these Hairdressers passing is getting my wife worried. By the time they finish her application we think they will have more than enough of them already!

Fantastic news and well done for sticking with it! I thought we were badly done to failing once! Also failed for lack of independent evidence.

Anyway, waiting like the rest for a positive outcome. I hope you have a smooth run with the visa application.

Hi

We failed our TRA 1st time round and have just submitted 2nd application. My Husband is a self-employed Joiner. If you need some help give me a shout. I know we have yet to pass, but I can certainly tell you where we went wrong with our 1st applciation and how we tripled the amount of info sent with our current application!

Thanks everyone for the congrats and good wishes. It means a lot because you guys know how hard it is. 'Non migrating' folk just don't realise, do they?

In answer to someones question no we didn't use an agent, which is probably why I went wrong, but hey, we got there in the end.

Hopefully, if we get the visa, we will be going to Perth as I have two sisters already there. We would like to settle somewhere in the Northern Suberbs, I think.

Thanks again, everyone and good luck to all those TRA hopefulls. I have my fingers crossed for you.

Bye for now
Pauline
