Re: lost job urgent help please
he'll have 28 days to get a new 457 sponsor or leave or apply or another substantive visa.
What's his occupation? where? how old is he, any dependants - ie is a WHV an option?
could he consider a holiday visa whilst he looks for new employer - not sure if you can do that whilst onshore??????
Is he eligible for any other visa eg 175 176 475 etc

Maybe she could sponsor him as a de facto if he hasn't got enough points on his own. Is his skill on the sol list? try the quick points test on www.immi.gov.au
AHHH just realised a bridging visa can only be issued when applyign for a visa that can be granted on shore. so 175 may get him PR but he'll have to wait itout offshore with that one. Same for 475.
Not sure if 176 or spouse visa can be granted onshore thus giving him a briding visa.
PS It's probably safest for him to talk to an agent - at least for an intial chat. Most give a short amount of time free to get you started on the right path.

How long has he been living with his fiance?
He could probably get a prospective marriage visa, or possible a defacto/spouse visa if they've been living together for a full year.
He is young enough for a whv so that's possible if he hasn't had one before. I think he'd have to apply offshore though. He could work on a whv but only for a year and he could only stay at one job for a maximum of 6 months.
A defacto visa or prespective marriage visa would be better options.

I should add that spouse type visas are much faster and you can generally apply in Australia.

Requirements for a defacto:
http://www.immi.gov.au/migrants/part...ty-defacto.htm
Prospective spouse visa:
http://www.immi.gov.au/migrants/part.../300/index.htm
Looks like he would have to apply offshore for this one. Not sure how long they take either. Once he had this visa they would have to marry within 9 months.

Re: lost job urgent help please
However... if he finds a new employer to sponsor him they can apply for a new visa from scratch.
It certainly sounds like an onshore defacto visa would be quickest and easiest.
