info needed re. nursing assessment!!!
hi, can anyone help me!!!! i'd really appreciate some advice. i've sent off (3 week ago) for my nursing qualifications assessment to the ANC. at present, due to lack of childcare, i only work 9 and a bit hours per week, and have done so for about 3 months. prior to that i worked approx. 22 hours. i've just read however that to lodge an application for permanent residency, you have to be seen to work 20 plus hours per week. is this true!!!! i thought you only had to work, regardless of hours, for 12 of the 18 months prior to applying.
i feel, at this minute in time, that i am never going to get into australia!!! could anyone offer me any advice, it would be so appreciated, any advice at all!!!
i don't know how i can change this situation either, as my husband works away and i simply don't have the childcare, unless that is, i pay completely through the nose, for private childcare!!!
thanks for your time and much needed advice,
shelley ...

Re: info needed re. nursing assessment!!!
To apply for regular skilled independent, you have have worked for 12 months in the last 18 months. Anything over 20 hours is considered 'full time', anything less than that is not considered at all.
It's explained in the Skilled Migration Booklet.
ANCI may have different rules for skill assessment.
If you don't have a chance to apply while still meeting the above rules, then there may be other options (Skill Matching, employer nomination) but you should get professional advice as these can be very confusing to the uninitiated.

hiya shelley
if you do a forum search you may find some info about this. In the last year there were a couple of nurses who had no probs getting their visas with less than 20 hours a week working. I know just the problem you face with childcare!!!
