IELTS Test
Hi and good day everybody
Kindly if anybody out there could advise me on this matter:
I have sat for the IELTS test recently and awaiting for the
results. On the application form, it stated to give details where
you would like your results sent to. My question is:
Do the result have to be send direct to the Dept of Immigration
and cc copy to me?? Or the other way round??
Please advise me.
Thank you

You can either have them send directly to the DIMIA or to you, and then you mail it in your application. Makes no difference.

Not exactly: if you are from a country where there historically has been a lot of immigration application fraud (re: qualifications, job offer, IELTS etc) you will HAVE to get IELTS authority to send results to DIMIA direct otherwise the result will not be accepted.
This typically means Pakistan, India, Bangladesh.

Thanks for the info, Don - I didn't know that, as they didn't even offer to send the certificate anywhere here. The two choices were: mailed to my house, for people who come from other cities to take the test, or pick it up myself in 5 days at the testing center.

IELTS Test
Firstly thanks for the info. Is it true that if you failed the
IELTS does that mean your application is failed too??
Do DIMIA gave us a 2nd chance to sit for the IELTS
test if they found that the 1st time result is not to their
satisfaction? Could we apply for an extension then if
this case arise.
Appreciate your reply.
Thank you

Re: IELTS Test
In the acknowledgement letter you receive from DIMIA after sending in
your application, it says that you must arrange for the IELTS test
center to send the results directly to DIMIA.
I don't know if this is something DIMIA follow in practice or not (I
havn't done so myself yet), but just to let you know.

If you do not even get the minimum scores for your visa category, you will immediately fail to meet the basic requirements if you are the main applicant. When you fail to meet the basic requirements, your application will have the thanks of the Australian treasury and little else.

You should check to see if your IELTS score meets the minimum standard required of you if you are the main applicant for a skilled visa. http://www.immi.gov.au/allforms/pdf/966i.pdf
You should not lodge an application for a skilled visa if you do not meet the minimum standards for English proficiency if you are the main applicant.
> Could we apply for an extension then if this case arise.
Not sure what you mean by 'extension'.
If you applied (as the main applicant) with an IELTS score that fails to meet the minimum standard, your application is rejected immediately and you lose your application fee.
If you applied without an IELTS score and are subsequently requested and required to sit for the IELTS test and do not get the required minimum IELTS score, your application will also be rejected and you will also lose your application fee.
Overseas applicants usually have 49 days to respond to any request from DIMIA. And you cannot sit for more than one IELTS test in this period, as you cannot repeat the test within 90 days of the last sitting.

I sent the IELTS with my application, so I didn't wait for the acknowledgement. Geez, I hope my application is not refused because of that!

Re: IELTS Test
Hei Peter
Thank you very much for your information.
The minimum IELTS score would be band 5
(if I'm not wrong).
The "extension" meant that if failed for the
IELTS test should try the 2nd time. But
you have already answered my question.
Thank you
Hoping for a good minimum score.
Thank you very much......
