I am sure this has been asked before
I am sure this has been asked before. Just want to figure out how is
the job scene for a IT person who does core J2EE, Java development
(and some project management). I realize that Canada is very dry in
terms of getting an IT job. So I want to figure out how it is in
Australia? If the jobs are hard to come by then there is no point to
immigrating to a new country just to work in a grocery store as a
minimum wage fella who has an engineering degree and a graduate
degree!

Err, where?
Have it up on my screen right now. No J2EE.
Ecommerce security (NON-programming) is there, data warehousing, some
specialized communications - and people with CISSP or PKI background.
That's it for IT.

Hi,
US ain't much better, believe me.
Here's the cut&paste from the December 2003 (most recent) Victoria Skills
in Demand document:
Information and Communications Technology
2231 - Computing Professional
- E Commerce
Must have
E commerce security (non-programming)
- System Software support
Must have
Data warehousing or Communications or Photonics
and all specialities in
" Data services
" Voice Services
" Frame Relay
" DSL
" Mobile Networks
- Security
Must have either CISSP or PKI
Good luck!
