How To Validate a 175 Visa?
Hi all,
I'm sure this has been asked before but i can't find answer on here.
Moving to Sydney in January on a 175 visa.
Do i need to get a stamp in my passport before i go or can i just bring a print-out of my "visa granted" email?
Regards

Re: How To Validate a 175 Visa?
You have 2 relevant expressions mixed up.
Validated = get yourself to Australia before the "initial entry by" date
Evidenced = getting a physical label in your passport
The evidencing is "adviced", not mandatory. And as the visa is linked to the passport there will be no troubles entering the country without this label. During your travel it is wise to have your grant letter with you. The did not even look for a label when I entered the country and I did not even get a "welcome to Australia" just a boring entry stamp in my passport.
You do need the physical label in your passport when you deal with some official offices in Oz tho. For example, Medicare and the TRA require it. They could look up your status electronically, but they simply refuse to do that. You can get the label after arrival in Oz at any visa office here tho.
If you want to get the label "now" you need to approach the appropriate overseas visa office. More details here: http://www.immi.gov.au/contacts/overseas/
Good luck and congratulations.
