I'm currently residing in Australia and plan to pick up my PR visa in Auckland if
successful. Can anyone tell me how long I have after receiving notification from DIMA
to get to Auckland to collect the visa?

Thanks,

Dan

Hello Danny,

the last letter a client of mine received (in a skilled -independent visa
application) stated : -

"An inspection of your file indicates that all the necessary requirements appear
to have been met.

Your visa must be evidenced outside of Australia. It will be necessary for you to
approach a Department of Immigration and Multicultural Affairs office outside of
Australia with this letter. They in turn will contact us to provide them with the
visa grant details. This usually takes approximately 3 days.

Please inform us of your travel plans.

It would be on the condition that you and your family make the initial entry
into Australia before........ (this date was 5 months after the date of the
current letter)."

It therefore appears you are given 5 months to make your initial into Australia (at
least for Skilled-independent applications lodged in South Africa). As long as you
had your visa evidenced in your passport in New Zealand and entered Australia on the
PR visa within the 5 month period you should have no problems.
