PaulandNic I just wanted to check again as you didn't answer Michang about the one year work rule. I also can't find anything on the immigration web site saying you have to have a years work experiance, BUT you do get more points for a years work experiance. Seems pretty clear from the immigration web site (which is pretty unusual):

Hey I'm a mere mortal who simply chose to study to give my best attempt at gaining PR in this lovely country!
I currently don't have it!
I try my best to answer any 'student visa' queries but the rules have changed and the transition period is a little cloudy as for me it's all irrelevant now!
A good migration agent maybe? ... pm me, I can and HAVE recommended 2 or 3 who post on here regularly to people over the years! ...
