Her doctor sent statements and assessments on our behalf to say that in his experience many children in her situation 'far exceed' expectations.
I have also contacted Peter Bollard, whom i'm assured is very good in these circumstances to ask if he can assist us.

I would also like to thank everyone else for their advice and support. We're not giving up just yet, we refuse to let someone take away our dream on the basis of how an eight year old little girl MIGHT behave as an adult...
Hi
I am sure you will find a way round this situation......just as a thought is it not possible to pay for the treatment that your daughter requires, i have seen on other threads were they ask you to sign something....i may be wrong, but its just a thought.........whatever you decide i wish you all the best of luck..........

Consult with an agent who is specialist in your situation, and don't give up hope just yet..

We were lucky, our Dr who did the medicals and the Ed Psych who assessed him (the child that is, not the Dr who did the medicals) didn't believe that his learning disability would prevent him from being reasonably self supporting in the long term...

I know how hurtful and heartbreaking it is to suffer rejection when a much loved child not considered 'perfect' in the eyes of the general population ... big hugs... Thoughtless comments are bad enough, but an 'official' rejection is just cruelty...

I think your grounds for arguement would be, she is perfectly healthy, she just has a learning difficulty.... but for goodness sake spend a few pounds and get the best advice/ representation you can if you still want to come... don't just take what is said on here....
I think this reflects everyones sentiments,i feel for you and wish you and your familly every success, dont give up!!!!

all the best

No you can't.

You need to become a New Zealand citizen and that takes 5 years at least. And even then, you don't get PR rights in Australia.

New Zealand has its own fairly strict health requirements, not quite the same as Australia but not to be ignored either.

Really sorry for your news!
Having two sons with ADHD, the youngest of whom has minor learning difficulties also, I understand how frustrated you must feel with what seems to be an apparent lack of understanding of the conditions.
We are about to take our meds in the next few weeks, so are keeping our fingers crossed.
I wish you every luck in the world

It sounds like you need to speak to an agent who understands this area (eg Peter Bollard). You may first need to terminate the services of your existing agent.
Hi, wondering if someone could please pm me Peter Bollard's email address. I have a friend who has just had her 136 visa refused (on 17th Nov) due to her son having severe learning difficulties, even though he should be classed as mild to moderate.....the consultant wrote 'severe' and this has thrown a spanner in the works for them, even though he hasn't seen the child for over 3 years!!!! LCU requested IQ tests and Educational reports etc......but the word 'severe' on the consultants letter seemed to be the big problem.
Not sure what she can/could do next........so thought I'd ask.
She doesn't have an agent.........and didn't do a pre-med report. Wondering if there is any hope for her?
Any advise would be greatly appreciated,
Beth x x

We do have an agent but she has been less than forthcoming with help and advice so I thought i'd ask the experts as you guys seem to have been there, done it, read the book and bought the T shirt.

Any assistance would be gratefully received as we are devastated..
Really sorry to hear your news, can i ask what learning difficulties does your daughter have?? my daughter has mild dyslexia. do they take this into account???

Hi ya,

The MOC invited us to submit further info on our daughter and then seemed to completely ignore it, his final refusal stated 'thankyou for your recent reports, these are consistent with previous reports and my opinion of Feb 07 remains unchanged. (Feb 07 was his original rejection of her meds), even though the follow up reports clearly stated that she was making progress.

My advice would be to get an agent who specialises in this field before you submit any further paperwork cos if it doesn't negate the previous info you will most likely get a final rejection.

First thing to do though is get an extension on any time limits your friend has, this will enable her to put together all the assessments etc she may require, our agent pushed us into meeting the deadlines of the LCU and it wasn't til afterwards we found out we could have had more time to gather more in depth info..

Best of luck to your friend and her family, my heart goes out to her and especially her son.. Bless him..

P.S. Thanks to all who have sent us good wishes, havn't been on all weekend decided to give myself a break for a couple of days. Went out and bought the biggest TV I could find instead, now that made me feel better. Lol...

Hi Bev,

In answer to your question my daughter has GDD (Global Developemental Delay and feature of ADHD, although she is not diagnosed as having ADHD).

They will take your daughters dyslexia into account if she currently recieves any educational back up, i.e. one to one with a classroom assisstant or ig she is currently statemented at school.

My advice would be to gather all the relevant reports and reviews of your daughter, if applicable and then run them past a qualified agent BEFORE submitting to your meds.

Best of luck. Janie C
