Default Help please - payment problem!

I lodged my application last week and received an email today stating that my payment was deemed invalid. I sent them a manager's cheque payable to the Australian Embassy as this is what is stated in the DIAC website (they don't accept credit cards for Philippine applications). I might have misunderstood. They told me that they will not accept my cheque as it is not made payable to DIAC and not in Australian dollars. I am confused and cannot wait for their reply since they are only giving me until January 4 to come up with a credit card payment....

Because of the holidays, I can't cancel the cheque yet and it is quite expensive to come up with another $2525. What's worse, I checked the currency conversion tool in the website and the fee is now PHP 112,700 instead of the PHP 91,300 that I originally issued.

Do you think they will allow me to still pay PHP 91,300? Sorry if I have to ask here.... I am just sooooo sad...

I believe it is clearly stated on the DIAC site that payment is to be made to the Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC). Why would you make it out to the embassy?

And no, you cannot pay PHP 91,300. You need to pay the full $2525 AUD.

Hello Dorothy,

My apologies for the confusion. I was referring to this link - http://www.immi.gov.au/allforms/990i...of-payment.htm under Philippines. It says that they accept manager's cheque made payable to Australian Embassy and that they don't accept credit cards. I guess it is applicable for those lodging directly to the Australian Embassy in the Philippines?

I then went to the currency converter tool in the website and got the figure PHP 91,300 for $2,525 AUD. This was the conversion rate for July 1 - December 31.

The email from ASPC says that I can pay via credit card but I am not sure if my credit card limit can accommodate this so I have asked my husband to pay in Australia. The question now is - do you know where? I might be misinterpreting again...

so sorry...

thank you

The payment details should be on your email from ASPC. Did you apply online?

No, can only do paper-based.

This is the link she gave me - http://www.immi.gov.au/allforms/990i.htm#processing but I'm afraid I might misinterpret again.

She attached a credit card proforma document should I choose to pay via credit card but I have just now decided that my husband should pay in Australia given the deadline and my card limit dilemma.

You must forgive me for trying to be sure as I originally thought I understood the payment options when I lodged my application but turns out I obviously didn't.

Anyway, thank you for looking into this thread. I really appreciate it.

Happy new year Dorothy and everyone

you have your husband in Australia? Then why are you worrying so much. He can pay easily to DIAC from within Australia. You should have asked him before.

Yes, he is in Australia. I asked him to send the money here instead of paying there because of the conversion rate (long story). I misunderstood what's posted in the immi website. I am worried because I thought I knew what to do before but didn't and it might happen again. I just want to be sure.

thanks
