Default Heading for Sydney - any advice ?

Hi All,

new to the forum, so hello everyone, hope all your visa, migration, shipping etc.. activities turn out ok for you..

bit of background...

I'm scottish, been living in london with my ozzie girlfriend Jane for 4 years and earlier in the year we decided to give it a go in Australia.

We filed for the partner visa 19th August, I got a phone interview 16th September with High Commision (nice bloke), thumbs up and flights are booked for 25th October...Christmas on the beach.

We're packing up the house and just about to look at shipping agents once we decide exactly what we want to take.

ok, question is...

I love my televsion and want to ship it over, along with other electrical applicances. (video, pc. etc)

are they compatable, do they need adapters, are adapters expensive ?

sorry if I sound like a moron, but I've been trawling the internet all afternoon for a definitive answer and thought that this might be a good place to get one.

thanks in advance.
Tony

search on timsorrel (member name) on this website and I am sure you will get lots of useful information from those threads- he has not recently been active on the site and I cannot get access to his site.

Like to know how he is going - TIM....are you there?

Cheers

Not all TVs and videos will receive the sound signal here. Other than that bring over what you can as replacing stuff is generally more expensive than buying new.

PC will work fine but a UPS or at least a surge protector for most electrical equipment is essential. The power can get very erratic with the electrical storms and air conditioners over loading the grid.

Maybe buy a surge protected power boards in the UK and wire an Aussie plug on it to save the hassle of swapping all your plugs.

Do some searches on the lifestyle forum and their is a lot of info on shipping as well as someone who works in the industry.

Where are you headed in Sydney?
