Default GTP's

is the GTP recognised as a teaching qualification in Australia?
if it isn't, has anyone got any information as to what i need to do in order to teach there?
I'm not the main applicant but, obviously, need to work once we eventually emigrate.
prior to doing the GTP i did complete a PGCE in post-compulsory education. does that give me any more options?
Thanks

It's not, but read this thread, the last post is interesting.

Not sure what your PGCE is but, it may be acceptable - you will need the transcripts. When did you do your PGCE? Last year was the first year that they were deemed to be at post grad level and that may cover the GTP.

You can check your qualifications with Teaching Australia
http://www.teachingaustralia.edu.au/ta/go

Check the teaching section of the BE forum (caution, not just for Aus).

My advice is to find out where you stand before you go.

Good luck,
Cooler

You require a 3 year degree plus PGCE. If you haven't got that then it's not a simple path to go down

If you have a PGCE don't you also have a degree?

Good point JAJ, I believe there may be an issue with the PGCE being post-compulsory education though.

So you have a degree? and PGCE, not sure if it being post compulsory is an issue? email these people [email protected] they must have the answers. Or if not just get qualifications assessed as long as you don't use GTP, as you already know it's not recognised, I don't think assessment costs very much?

Unless things have changed recently, GTP is not recognised in Australia.

But degree + PGCE is, normally.

You should work from there.
