GSM175 visa application - been waiting 3 years, how many more? :(
My husband and I submitted our application for GSM175 (not on SOL list) in September 2009 and have heard nothing since. We are applying with my job (1224-11 Information Technology Manager) which is on SOL schedule 2 (not Schedule 1) so we are in priority group 5.
As far as I can see, all priority group 5 applications will only commence any form of approval process when ALL other visa applications for Australia are completed.
Reading between the lines, does this mean that ALL other application for a visa to Australia from how ever many number of years ago until now will be processed before ours is even picked up? Do we risk them rejecting our application at all?
We have been waiting now 35 months (3 years) and have not heard anything.
I am more frustrated to not be able to find ANY yard stick for exactly HOW long we might be waiting – it would be great to know something! Anything
Anyone else apply for a General Skilled Migration visa (175) in 2009 with a profession NOT on the main SOL?

I thought that cat 5 was moving slowly now, Mrs Greenstar it cat 5 I believe and would know, but she mainly reads in immigration forum, you are better putting visa related questions in there.
Have you looked into state sponsorship? If anyone is sponsoring, you can add that to your application because of when it is lodged and that would speed things up for you.

Your Australian partner and child hs no bearing on a 885 application and nobody could know how long your application will take as you have told us nothing about it. Why on earth don't you apply for the partenr visa however?

Who told you that? If you have been married more than a few years and have a child together you will likely go straight to PR status. The 2 years is the time you would spend on a temporary visa in normal circumstance, but like I said, with a child and having been married for a few years you would bypass the temporary part.

You say you have a child with your Australian Spouse. You would get PR immediately (well, within about six months from application). It makes no sense to be waiting on 175 for xx years.

Answered on a different thread. There's no need to ask in multiple places.

I can appreciate the frustration. We're priority five & applied (family sponsored 475) in January 2009. I think DIAC have done pretty well on the start of P5. They processed a fair few before the change to SkillSelect because they had fewer P3 (SMP) applicants than they'd anticipated. There have been P5 grants, but obviously we take a lower priority. Now my personal opinion (and this is pure speculation), is that they'll have a certain amount of higher priority ones to do each day/week/month (delete as appropriate), and when they've dealt with those, they will do some P5 & then rinse & repeat! As I said, that is purely speculation on my part.

I was going to look into getting sponsored by the state but this would be VICTORIA and when I looked at their occupation list mine (1224-11 Information Technology Manager) is not on their either. Is there any other way to get state sponsorship?? Thanks

I can ONLY hope that is true. We are only receiving the DIAC emails saying "there will be a considerable wait" etc etc. And this is not helping my mood. Howlong can we wait living in limbo for the visa to be looked at (and approved we HOPE!). Have you been given any time frames/guides? Thanks
Sorry I can't be of more help.

Have you looked at any of the other states?

I'll take a look. Can you apply via one state (and their sponsorship) and live in another?
Just frustrated as we're following only 2 years after some friends we made in Melbourne who came across with an 18 month time frame from application to leaving for Melbourne and we're no nearer! Even dreaming that our application was looked at and rejected now!
