Group A and 10 years of Work Ex gone....
Dear All
This is the reply I have received from the ACS...
As a group A applicant, qualification criteria was met on 04/91..
Experience by 12/01...Nominated occupation..Project manager.
That I am helpless is an understatement...10 points for work experience are required to reach 115..Can somebody help
"I refer to your letter dated 6 June regarding the deeming date on your result letter. I would firstly like to apologise for the delaying in responding but as your file has been finalised and no longer kept in this office it had to be ordered. In relation to your deeming date I have confirmed that the date of 12/01 is correct with the assessor's assessment. I have also had this date re-calculated and can confirm that it is correct with our requirements. The deeming date is made up of the time that an applicant not only holds the required experience but also the qualification. I would also like to make it clear that you were assessed as an Group A applicant so to meet our requirements you needed to have only 4 years experience. As your qualification side of the assessment was met by 04/91 it was then 12/01 that you had the required experience. It should also be noted that whilst this may not be favourable for your DIMIA assessment that the ACS is not able to change deeming dates simply so applicant's meet the DIMIA requirements. "

So the ACS assessment recognizes only 4 years of your work experience
between 04/91 and 12/01. How much time did you actually spend working
as an "IT professional" during those 10.5 years? How much of that was
covered by detailed references when you applied for assessment?
If you in fact worked professionally for more then 4 years during
1991-2001, you can try to figure which parts of your experience were
not recognized by the ACS. (Of course, their letter only tells you
that they calculations were "correct", rather than which parts of your
employment record they counted and which ones they did not; but could
you try to make an educated guess based on the quality of the material
that you had presented?) Perhaps it is possible to obtain more
detailed documentation for those years, and reapply? It may be a pain
to track down the persons qualified to give such references, though.
ACS probably has sent you an application inviting you to join ACS as a
member at a discount rate. If you do it, you can save some money on
the new assessment, I suppose.
You can do it even when your DIMIA application is already filed, in
the hope that the new ACS assessment will come before DIMIA assesses
your application.
