Just to let other know here's how we did it:

Oct 01 - Got a working holiday visa and went to Aus Nov - Jan - Got the evidence
together, medical's, police checks etc Feb 02 - Phoned to get an appointment to lodge
the application in Brisbane, was given a date 3 weeks later (Not happy!) March 02 -
Went to lodge the application which took about an hour, a few questions, looking
through evidence, filling in forms we'd forgotten/never seen mention of before (some
character check forms, simple enough but aren't mentioned in the pack we got in
Germany). However the good news is that we got the temp residence visa the same day!

I never believed they'd actually give it to you on the same day but it seems if you
get everything sorted and all your evidence etc sorted they can process it on the day
of application!

Anyway just thought I'd let you know if ayone else is applying onshore there is hope!
