As I've done on another thread I need to correct myself here. A NZ
citizen with a permanent visa cannot make a valid application for the
temporary NZ citizen visa, and hence the risk of PR being overriden
doesn't exist from this source.
It used to be theoretically possible, although prior to Feb 2001
hardly any NZ citizens held permanent visas separately. When the Feb
2001 changes came in, in anticipation of increasing numbers of New
Zealanders holding passport visas with greater rights than the NZ
citizen temporary visa, the law was changed to make sure a NZ citizen
with a permanent visa can't legally apply for the temporary visa.
Even if the permanent visa is in a different passport, this still
applies.
