Good Place To Buy a PC in Oz
Does anyone know of an equivalent to PC World, or other big department store where I can buy a high (ish) spec desktop machine, without getting ripped off?

First thing to do is - *avoid* big department stores. They *always* rip you
off.
You can always lurk in computer newgroups such as
aus.ads.forsale.computers.new
Bargains and ads there for parts and systems from valid retailers.

You can try Dell, they do not have shop fronts as such but they deliver
anywhere (normally this is $99) but their prices are very competitive.

You can also try http://www.computerdisposals.com.au/, they deal with a lot of cancelled corprate orders, mostly for Dell kit. A lot cheaper than buying brand new. They may not be the absolute latest models (although they currently have a 2.2Ghz desktop), but they do have Dell warranties.
Cheers,
Paul.
