Unhappy Going slightly mad

After waiting 51 weeks and 6 days, I have lost the plot and resigned from my job. I would have moved on ages ago, but I thought I could stick it out until our visa was granted (or not, as the case may be). I don't want to tell anyone at work about the visa application, cos if we don't get it, I never want to hear the word "Australia" from anyone ever again. Ever. Anyway, in order to hold on to my sanity, I handed in my notice and now my whole department is speculating "Did she jump or was she pushed?", because I haven't got another job lined up to go to. Even if we do get the visa, we've still got the house to sell, so I might end up working in McD's to tide us over!

To make matters worse, I have got totally addicted to this site and to checking for e-mails from DIMIA in the middle of the night.

HELP ME!!!!

I left my last job a while ago. Best thing I've done in ages.

You don't need help. You would if you had stayed in the job though ;-).

Hiya Mrs Bat

I think if your not slightly mad when you start your application, you certainly will be by the time you get there. I am also addicted to looking at this site and checking emails, i think it's part of the course!!!!

We are also nearly a year down the line and still no word. Plus i also feel like you in the fact of if we don't get in we're going to have loads of people asking why we have'nt gone yet. God, it's enough to turn you to drink!!!

Keep your chin up, surely it can't be much longer, can it?

Hi Ozbods wife

Well today it's been one year since we applied - no celebrations here! Last night bat decided that the best way to stop me looking at this site was to take out the PC by installing a Windows upgrade. Took ages - so there's a good tip for the addicted!

Hi

I know what you are going through. I thought the same last week. Walking down the park almost four people asked me did you hear anything.I thought of shouting back if I hear anything I scream at the top of my voice.

But on the other hand they are just concerned.

Well Its a great Roller coaster and try to get the most of it. As we might not go through this one more time. Think of this as an adventure which you having a great time.

As far as the forum is concerned try to get into once a hour then slowly reducing it. Its not bad you are helping others by placing the information on the forum. Think of it as a social service.

Chin up guys .... It's fun

I'm not sure about this waiting for the visa as being part of the roller coaster ride. I think of this part more like waiting in the queue for the rollercoaster, but seeing and hearing all those lucky so'n'so's that are already on it. o)

Your problem is exactly the same as mine about a month go. Reason for
staying with the stinking job was because of PR.. the thought of CO do
ref check, boss not happy and bad mouth to DIMIA, etc... Well, none of
it happen... I quit while it was in process (could not stand anymore)
and guess what... DIMIA did not even make a call to my employer and
luckily everythign went through OK that PR was granted two weeks after
med/PCC sent out.

BTW, have you have your PCC/meds requested?

Hi Badri

Thanks for your nice post - we have tried to send you birthday karma!

I was alright until we got to 50 weeks after our application date. After waiting that long, another few weeks shouldn't make much difference, but it DOES!!!

I bet when you get your visa, we'll be able to hear you screaming "got it" all the way from the Netherlands

Hi Workshop

On the plus side, at least I don't have to worry about references as Bat is the main applicant, not me

Yes - we got meds/pcc request on 8 March and sent it all off by 21 March. The meds are a real worry, because Bat has epilepsy. He hasn't had a fit for 8 years, but in the past, he has had loads of scans to monitor his condition and he takes lots of medication every day to control it. He's tried googling the price of his medication and reckons it will come in under the limit, but what if DIMIA have a list of prices that aren't very competitive?

Got to try not to think about it!
