Default Forget Australia...

I received an email from a

****** ********
Manager Region 3
Adelaide Skilled Processing Centre

Saying they cannot give me small extension to validate my visa as a result of my Mother's illness.
Well screw them, and screw Australia...
If they are going to behave without any compassion, then im glad I did not end up going there...

Can you not appeal against this? I don't know if you can - maybe an agent would tell you this. If so do it as soon as possible.

Try not to let one uncompassionte person ruin your dream, easy to say I know, but don't give up yet! Especially this late on, you've done all the hard work so chin up and see if you can't get an appeal!

Wish you luck and hope it works out,

You have come such a long way in getting the visa, isn't it a shame to let something like that get the better of you? Don't lose something that you have waited so long for, just for the lack of trying. Staying with Mum and keeping the visa is still possible.

Perhaps proper documents from your mum's doctor to confirm her medical condition might do the trick. No harm giving it another try. Your case officer has rules and policies to follow and she does not represent the whole of Oz.

Get some proper doctor's letter and try again. Hope Mum gets better soon.

Why don't you reapply. You made it the first time, unless your age has
changed or something else that effects your points. You should be onto a
winner.

If you kept a copy of your application just resend it with all the paper
work. The delay in processing your application will enable to stay with
your mother a little while longer.

Also how long did you have between getting the visa and validating it.

Depends if he applied for a skilled independant visa and if he did which
skill assessment organisation he went through.

I think some of the skill assessment don't have an expire date.

Also, for the cost of retrying, surely he could just get on the next el-
cheapo flight to get the visa validated. Have a go!

From all your previous postings about how you woud not be able to
validate your visa cause you could not find a flight to Australia, is
this not the perfect excuse to bame the system rather than you getting
cold feet about moving?

Dear OzLife,

Obviously you could have been better advised about the significance of the
first entry date, but I wonder if Lesley Martin knows that you had contacted
them for advice before the date had expired. Obviously they should have
responded in a timely fashion. Worth pursuing it from that angle. I
thought you had Richard calling them on your behalf?

Cheers

I havent heard from Richard at all...
Fact is, this Lesley character comes across as a harsh and unforgiving
character.
Im certainly not going to reapply again...
All i asked for is a month, are they so petty that they could not offer me
that?

I also requested and was refused an extension due to house sale falling through. It appears they're not allowed to exercise any discretion in this matter.

Malaysia Airlines return to Perth £546. No minumum stay. Arrives 17:10, departs 22:30 - plenty of time to get your passport stamped, and even to catch a wave or two!

I guess there is no Australian territory easier/cheaper/quicker to get to than the mainland, where you'd be able to validate the visa?

my guess is that they do not want to set a precedence as that will open a
can of worms with all other applicants asking for extensions as well ...
this will greatly complicate the already complex bureaucratic process ...

To me that sounds like a doable option for the original poster. He'd be back in the UK within 3 days...
