Hi everyone,

Just a quick question.
has anyone had thier 457 visa accepted without using a lawyer, as was there a lot of this wasnt right etc?

thinking about doing it myself to save a few grand....
or

if anyone knows a good, reasonably priced lawyer in sydney?

You wouldn't use a lawyer anyway. You would use a MARA registered migration agent if you need help with the visa application.

Does the sponsoring company not have an agent? Usually the applicant uses the company's agent. Is the company an approved sponsor? Have they done your nomination yet? Did they do these themselves or use an agent?

well they have sponsored a chick before, and went through an independant agent, as its an independant hairdressing shop i work for. however its an awful lot to go through her,

This doesn't make sense. What do you mean an independant agent because they're an indenpendant hairdressing shop?

If the shop you work for wants to sponsor you for a 457 they must be an approved sponsor. They then must nominate you for the visa. Once that's done then you apply. The job must meet certain criteria, including minimum salary.

hey dorothy, yeah i got that last bit, i was looking to see if anyone had done it alone
as in, my workplace is eligible to sponsor me, but i dont want to pay the fee's that an immigration agent will charge to put my forms through. if you get me?

You don't NEED to use an agent. If they have done it before and you are happy filling in forms without someone to double check them then save yourself the money.

Its $55k now isnt it? Not bad for chopping hair!

Just download the forms, get all your paper work together and submit them. Its about $8-900 I think. But dont bugger it up or it will get denied.

OR pay the extra agent fee and get it submitted only when everything is in order!
