Default Family Tree Diagram

This is beaurocracy gone mad!

I've just re read the DIMIA General Skilled Migration booklet No 6 and discovered that one of the documents they ask for is a Family Tree Diagram.

I could swear this wasn't in the requirements when I submitted my application (139) in June, but I suppose I could have overlooked it.

Anyway, just two questions for anyone who might want to assist

1)
why on earth do DIMIA need a diagram of the family tree when they already have all the birth and marriage certs proving the relationships involved. (The sponsor is my wife's brother so I'd have thought it would be fairly easy to work that out from what we originally supplied).

2)
should I submit one now. Does anyone know how far back this should go, does it include my own branch of the family or are they only concerned with my wife's, as she's the main applicant.

Grateful for your advice or views

Thanks

Alex

We applied for skilled sponsored visa and we had to supply the following information; a list of my parents, brothers, sister and their marital status and if they were still alive and the same for my husband, have no idea why though!!!! but I think that has been the case for sometime.

mmm that went a bit wrong!!!

Anyway as I was saying, we have applied for a skilled sponsored visa the same as you and we both had to supply the following information: List of my parents, brothers, sisters and marital status and if they were alive. have no idea why but they seem to want it, you will need to send it in if you don't want to delay your application so the experts on here will be able to tell you what form you need to use with a bit of luck. Good Luck.

Thanks Leanda,

Maybe I've misunderstood what I read.

We listed both sets of parents and all our brothers and sisters on the original application form 47SK along with their dates of birth, countries of residence and whether they were still alive!

We also provided certified copies of birth certs for ourselves, our daughter and my wife's brother, as well as our own marriage cert.
Booklet 6 asks for a Family Tree Diagram???

Anyone know what they mean by that and whether this is in addition to what we've already supplied?

Grateful for any advice.

Thanks

Alex

Alex,

A family tree diagram has been a requirement (as stated in the skilled migration booklet) since Nov 2002. I have copies of the Nov 2002, March 2003 and July 2003 editions, and they all state clearly that a family tree diagram is required for 139 applications. Perhaps you did overlook it.

Hi

My understanding of it was for instance as in our case we are using Kims aunt as a sponsor she is married. Her name is different from Kims mum and also Kims name is different from her mums since she married me. So I think it makes sense that a diagram is requested. although in your case its a lot more straight forward.

Wow it sounds like a episode of Soap

Rich.

Thanks Peter,

It looks as though I did miss that one.

Sorry if I'm stating the obvious but do you (or anyone else) happen to know:

1)
what form these things should take? (I'm assuming that a flow chart type diagram is what's required)

2)
are there any examples I can look at as a guide? (I tried searching the DIMIA website but no luck)

Again, grateful for any advice

Alex
