Fair length of commitment - 457 visa
Hello everyone,
I would like to know what you think is a fair commitment time to an employer for a 457 visa. Obviously my employer wouldn't bother sponsoring me for a short timeframe like a month, but maybe one year or two years, maybe longer.
What do you think is reasonable? Thanks!

I know it's a four year visa. I've already done a working holiday. I want to continue working here, but definitely not for four years.
How long do you think is fair for the employer? Would one year be fair, or is it too much hassle?

It could be - do you qualify for the second WHV or have you already done that too?

I don't qualify. It's fine, the company will sponsor me. I want to be upfront and tell them how long I intend on staying, which ideally would be about a year. I just don't know if that's enough for all the troubles they'd go through since it's a smaller company.

Also, if they haven't sponsored anyone before, they would need to do that; you need a skill on the CSOL and they need to prove no-one in Australia can do the job - or something like that. I'm sure if you are upfront with your position before they get the ball rolling it would be better - and they will probably have a MARA agent to give them the correct advice
