Default Evidence for past criminal offence

Hi, my boyfriend has applied for a WHM visa and has been asked for certified documents in relation to some driving offences committed about 10years ago. A friend said that anything over 7 years shouldn't be relevant. Does anyone have any advice? He has no record other than what he can remember. Have approached the court and awaiting information. He is also applying for a General Skilled Migrant Visa, is this going to be a problem with that one as well?

"A friend" is "An idiot" unless the friend is the Australian Minister for
Immigration, the friend dont make the rules
them what makes the rules asked for documents
them what wants them(what makes the rules) to put a "yes" on the forms
better get the documents

I think for a skilled visa it's only custodial sentences that affect the application.

Just supply whatever documents the court can come up with, and possibly a statemtn saying what happened/the facts of the case and any mitigating circumstances. Depending on what the actual offence was they may just want some background - driving with excess alcohol for instance is frowned on, and they may want to know how much over the limit a driver was.
I suggest whatever you send this time is copied and kept for resubmitting when the Skills visa is applied for.
