Default Estelle Short's question about visas at age 48

Hi,

I would be interested in a move to Australia. Life circumstances meant I couldn’t go before now as I had hoped. I am a Social Worker and qualified counsellor in Wales, with lots of experience, but I am now 48 years old. Do I have any realistic options at this point? I did read about a relaxing of rules and a possible stay of two years, but it seemed unlikely that I could stay beyond that. Are you able to throw any light on this please?

Hi, and welcome to BE.

The OP hasn't been on the forum for nearly 9 months, but as your question is about visas, I will move it to the immigration section of the Oz forum. Hopefully those in the know will be able to help you there.

Good luck.

You may be eligible for an employer sponsored temporary visa but unfortunately not a permanent one. The only permanent visas after 45 are currently partner visas and parent visas. There is also an investor scheme but that requires millions of dollars and I think is suspended at the moment.
