Hey guys,
When do you think is the right time to call Diac to check the status of your application? I have been waiting to 49 days now and nothing as yet!!!

Call the DIAC Hotline and you can speak to an operator, the operator can look into the system and tell you the current status. But the information you normally get are very poor.

More details as requested...
Landed in Perth in Feb. 2008 with a subclass 457 as an Engineer – Electrical or Electronics Engineering Technologist (ASCO 2128-15), working as a Systems Engineer;
Decided to apply for our PR in June 2009 so ask the employer to sponsor us, get all paper work - Police certificates - job references, EA skill assesment (washington accord - Production Engineer, took 1 week);
Chasing up on a weekly base with the employer... (till they accept in mid December);
August 09 - As employer was always delaying things, I apply for WA state sponsorship as a Production Engineer (off-list);
Mid December 09 - Employer finally accept to sponsor us (Merry Christmas!);
Mid February 10 - Employer sent the nomination paperwork (not too early );
Mid February 10 - Received positive WA state sponsorship;
18 March 10 - Nomination approved;
22 March 10 - Application received by Parramatta office with everything needed - stopped stressing about all that as nothing more we can do from now on;
27 April 10 - Visa granted;
28 April 10 - We are going to the Immi office in Perth for the labels.

But it's "good" to know that you guys are sharing the same experience
Need to ask for a bridge B next week, have to go overseas.
I guess that will slow down everything

Yes you are quite right. Dec and Jan is the worst time to lodge any visa application

Yip we are all in the same boat! I have been told by my agent not to expect any news for another 3-4 weeks. The time frame just keeps moving so that's why I say xmas is looking good. I don't think anyone will hear this week so fingers for the rest of you for next week.
