Default English proficiency problem

Dear All,

My spouse has less than proficient english required by DIAC due to which I may have to pay second installment which is quite big amount. Can someone advise if there is any way to have it waived or by applying spouse visa later like partner visa 309 can it be skipped? Please assist

There wouldn't be that much difference between cost of a partner visa and the second instalment, plus there would be another long wait for the second visa. It is not worth it, retake IELTS or pay up.

If you're planning on bringing her to live in an English speaking country then it's worth her while to either learn the language before she gets here or pay the second instalment so she can learn it when she gets here. She's going to need to know the language to survive in Australia.

And no, there is no way to cheat the language requirement. She either passes the test or pays the fee.
