Hi guys

Has anyone got any idea what an EEC or English Education Charge is???
We got medical requests and our CO wants my husband to either write a
Ielts or pay EEC. Any info?:rolleyes:

Happy about the med request but worried about all the other
documentation he wants.

Hi Chani,

The EEC is the second installment you will have to pay if your spouse/dependants over 18, do not meet the required "functional English".

The amount paid is for English classes that your spouse/dependants over 18 will have to attend when you arrive in Australia.

To avoid paying the amount, your spouse and/or dependants will have to take IELTS to prove that they have "functional English".

"Functional English" is defined as getting the at least the average band of 4.5 of all the components of IELTS.

IELTS is definitely cheaper if their English is okay. If not, it's easier just to pay the amount BUT it's not cheap

going for the skilled migration visa it's AUD 2.690.

Thanks for the info you guys!!:)

Ielts is the way to go. We definitely don't want to pay that much.
Rather buy a big plasma TV in Oz.
