Default English but having medical in Thailand.

Hi there,
I'm going to be a student in Australia next year. I am currently
travelling SE Asia but need to get a medical done soon.

Has anyone heard of problems getting the medical done by a different
country than your own? I can't see why there would be as I understand
the doctors send the results directly to DIMA.

Any experiences would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Martin.

There are no problems withthi provided you use a panel doctor.

Excellent! Following your advice, I walked in and got the test done
the same day at Bangkok's BNH Hospital for 1600 Baht, about UKP26. The
results will be at their embassy tomorrow.

In contrast, the costs would have been much higher back home. Here's
an extract I got from a UK firm:

    > An Australian medical for a permenant
    > visa is UKP110.00 including blood test. A temporary visa medical
    > is UKP90.00. For both of these visa's you will need an x-ray
    > which will cost UKP35.00.

Regards and thanks,
Martin,
