Employed or self employed?

Employed or self employed?
I have been director of my own limited company for the past five years but I still work in a hands on roll as a fitter/gas fitter. For TRA purposes do I class myself as an employee of the company or as self employed? Do I still have to provide trade references, supplier statements etc. for a limited company as I would for a period of self employment. Any help would be greatly received, thanks.
