Hi all.
Trying to get my skills assessed so that i can apply for a 189 PR visa. (Electrical Engineering Draftsperson).
But on throwing around a few questions to ENGINEERS AUSTRALIA they say i need an engineers degree to apply for my skills to be assessed.
I am confused as why would you need a degree for what they state is an ENGINEERING ASSOCIATE role?
My highest qualification is a HNC Electronic & Electrical Engineering.
They state i may need to get my skills assessed my TRA or VETASSESS but i believe these are for an ELECTRICIAN role.
I do have a background as an ELECTRICIAN, but have moved into the design office as an Electrical Designer which i have been doing for over 10 years now.
So i am confused how to get skills assessed as a DESIGNER/DRAFTSPERSON???
Please help.

If you have HNC in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, I am guessing you also did an indentured apprenticeship at the same time. Maybe consider applying with those qualifications. If that gets you a Visa, you can then look for Draftsman work when you get here. You might need to be careful when documenting your work experience, don't tell lies but be creative with the truth.
I got my PR Visa that way as an 'Electrical Fitter' but work as an Audio and Communications Engineer. It took me a while to accept that it's just a pathway to a Visa, that's the key to the door. Once you are in Australia you can apply for jobs that better suit your needs.
