Default Election - could it change immigration policies

Starting to panic - hopefully for no reason. Would a change in government bring changes to immigration policies - if so, how quickly could they be implemented. Worried about having not already applied.

I doubt it....Oz is and will alwas remain a country of immigrants......just that both sides of govt. demonise foreigners etc....but fiortunately doe snot reflect wider Oz society.
