Default Driving offences / Visa application

Hi all, I have just done a police record check to get details of my old traffic offences, which came back with a No Trace of a crimanal record result, can anyone advise about old driving offence from about 20 years ago, i was given a 6 months ban because of all the point adding up over the allowed amount, will this have to be declaired on my visa application, and if so where would i get this information as it never show in my police records. thanks

My husband is in a similr situation only difference is that is ban is more recent. I dont think that your offence is still counted as it is over a specific time period. Enquiry with your local police station about how long a drinving offence stays with on your licence. I will check with my hubby when he gets in from footy as I think he will know for sure.

If it didn't go to court it's not a criminal conviction. If it did go to court, it is.

I was always under the impression that the majority of minor driving convictions were traffic offences and not criminal offences?. so would I have to declare that I had a speeding conviction for which I attended court?

As far as I am aware, anything that goes to court constitutes a criminal record. However a minor offence like that should not bar one from being granted an Australian visa.

Thanks to all who replied, im still not to sure about this, but i did make court apperance on the last offence to plea for a non ban sentence as i was self employed, but was denied by the judge, i was fined and ban for all my points adding up. All the points have been removed for my licence when i applied for a card licence and my police check came back as No trace
