Hi,
Been reading many posts on here and they have mentioned the IELTS when applying for PR. Does everyone need this for applying for PR and if so what is the cost and how do I go about getting it? I have proficient English and am a primary school teacher,
Thanks,
Joey09

If you hold a certain passport (UK, US, Canada I think) then you don't need to do the IELTS (unless, of course, you need the extra points)

Only if you need the extra points to make up your 120. If not then you're sorted!

If you do not hold a UK, Ireland, US, Canada or newzealand passport, you need a valid IELTS of band 6 (min in all four bands) at the time of application to qualify. If you need extra points you need to show score 7 in all bands when a CO considers your application. (this wont stop you from applying for the visa). You can apply for your visa and later do the IELTS to claim the extra points..

How many extra points does the IELTS give you? I am now only scoring 110 because primary teacher has come off the MODL list and we were going to apply for a 175.

If you get minimum 6 in each component you get 15 points (minimum for 175 I think), 7 gives you 25 points.
