Hi Andrew,

Could you tell us what your nominated occupation and work experience occupation was?

Thanks,

You are in the same position as us. Huzz is a qlfd sparks but had a break for 3 years and then came back to a more elec engnr job, however still keeps his hand in (sparks wise)with the job. I am so worried it is going to be a no. Been 8 weeks yesterday since ack (13th July).

mean please

They say on the designated area sponsor that if you have an assessment worth 40 or 50 ponts then you can work in any job off the SOL for 12 out of the 18 months!

If you have that then they can't refuse it says it in black and white. It also says that you don't need to use and agent. So on that basis your on your on own with booklet 6, some poeple on here and any info you can blag from the DIMA or TRA or Vetassess or agents.

lace

They could decide that the work experience doesn't quite fit the nominated occupation or doesn't match the required level. That's what I'm worrying about. You can get the description for your occupation from the ABS-site, but I guess in most cases (as in mine) it won't fit 100%, so I would also be interested in how strict Dimia are or how they decide wether the work experience matches the occuptaion or not.

Surely if the TRA say yes, then you cant be turned down my DIMIA for lack of work experience/skills. This is crazy, almost a double jeopardy case!!!

Does anyone know of this actually happening?

There have been cases where as a person has passed the skills assessment only to fall where recent work experience is required, hence not gaining enough points.

Oooh.
Interesting thread this.
I'm hoping to get my TRA done as graphics/pre press and I've held off moving forward with my carear in fear of not being in the same trade when it comes to the recent work exp.

You Confuse me Rob, don't you mean specific experience ?

I know you get extra 10 points for specific experience but nothing just experience, this is mandatory !

Hiya Manx.
My application is starting to resemble a bit of an old chestnut now.
I'm getting my TRA stuff ready to send off for a pre assessment with an agent.
I've got about 8 or 9 years experience but I dont know how much of it will count as graphics/pre-press and not graphic design as I do both. Hence I'm going to get the help of an agent.
Are you a graphics/pre-press'er Manx?

Some applicants (like myself unfortunately) have different occupations for the skills assessment and the recent work experience. While I have a valid skills assessment my work experience hasn't been assessed before so anything is possible there.

The skills assessment says that you have or may have had the required skills. But if you didn't use these skills for the required length of time at the required level then that would be a reason for a rejection.
