Hi
I have been reading the posts on this site and they are really helpful.
I have been with my boyf (hes Australian) since Sept 200.. In Dec 05 we moved intogether. We have copies of post coming to our apartment during this time but no joint letters, joint bills or tenancy agreement. My mum owned the apart so we both transferred the rent from our own accounts to hers. We can show this with bank statements.
In May 06 after 5 months living together,my boyf had to move 2 hrs away for work. I couldnt go too as I couldnt give up my job at that time. We saw each other a few days each week and have plenty of holiday stuff, photos etc for the time to show we were together even though we lived apart.
My boyf moved back into the apart in Jan 08 but still no joint letters, bills etc. In feb 08 we moved into a new apartmenet and have a lease and one bill in our joint names. We can show the rent moving from our accounts and money for bills moving around our accounts. We opened up a joint account a few weeks ago.
My boyf is being moved back to Oz with work in Feb or March so we need to lodge our application fairly soon. We are gathering all the info and think we'll be able to lodge in early Jan 09.
My quesetion is will the immigration people add the 5 months from back in 2006 to the 11 months we can show in 2008 of liviing together?
If anyone could help Id really appreciate it. This whole visa business is stressing me out big time!
Thanks a millon in advance

I was expecting a green card like interview and I know people who say it was tough. We had very little in terms of proof except similar accents
My immigration guy said they only needed one thing from more than 2 years before - I had a letter sent to Andrew at my address 7 years ago and that was all.
We had a joint bank account, a life insurance and a dog registered in our name for the interview ! I am not saying this is ideal but they were fine and granted ours.

thanks for that
just noticed that typing all over the place, I should have said we've been together since 2004.

Providing you have lots of proof of continuing relationship whilst you weren't actually living together they will not worry about a break. Letters, phone records, holiday info, joint invites etc will confirm that you were still a couple, just not able to live with each other. Also get Stat Decs from family and friends confirming the relationship continued and you'll be fine.
