Default Criminal records

Hi all I currently live in Spain but my cousin lives in Perth and has done for many years. He offers for me to go and stay with him numerous times and I always decline because I always think I'll go through all the rigmarole of trying to get a 12 month visa then get denied because of my criminal record.

I have been arrested for actual bodily harm which is another form of assault, then again for section 5 public order, possession of an offensive weapon, breach of community service and again for another assault.

I'm not a bad person everything iv been arrested for was just wrong place wrong time being drunk when I was younger and all that complete stupidness really.

I have served no prison time but I was electronically tagged last time for one of the assaults.

I'd just rather hear it from the horses mouth if I have got no chance of getting into oz really ?

Thanks

How long ago was that? Heard that DIAC looks leniently if it was many years ago. And people say you should get a good migration agent if you have criminal records.

As embarrassing as it is to say it was last year October I only came off tag in January this year. I hadn't been arrested for years before this happened either. I would love to go to oz to be fair and it's my own fault if I can't.

That's what drinking in dives in England does for you.

Well, you didn't serve time, so maybe it's not so bad. They even let in people with up to 2-year prison time (aggregate). You probably should consult an agent.

How would I go about that here in Spain though ? Suppose I could speak to somebody over the phone in England.

Have a look through the forum for threads recommending agents. There are also several that post on here - look for posts by Alan Collet and George Lombard especially - contact details are in their post signatures, and they will be happy to deal by phone or email. You might have to pay for help if you actually apply for a visa - I really wouldn't suggest you go it alone, not with some of the stuff being so recent. You'll need to describe the mitigating circumstances on each one in the "right"way
